FROM CREATURES TO CREATORS

Some time ago, I stumbled across the topic of gene malipultation of living creatures and the associated technology CRISPR-Cas9.

As soon as I understood the possibilities it offered, big questions arose in my mind. Will CRISPR-Cas9 reshape our world? For me no hunger, no disease, no suffering caused by faulty genes will remake our world and the end of life as we know it.

So I decided to create a poster to inform and make others aware of this topic. I have also included my opinion in the design.

Attached is some general information and technology.

CRISPR-Cas9 is a powerful tool for editing genomes, meaning it allows researchers to easily alter DNA sequences and modify gene function. It has many potential applications, including correcting genetic defects, treating and preventing the spread of diseases, and improving the growth and resilience of crops. However, despite its promise, the technology also raises ethical concerns.

The gene scissors are used to insert new or modified genes into the genome of wild populations. A gene drive is designed to genetically manipulate wild animals - not just individuals, but entire populations. It uses a genetic element that overrides the natural rules of inheritance. Selected genes are not only passed on to some of the offspring, but to every single one of them.
